As part of my ongoing project Encyclopedia of Natural Colors, I will travel to Oaxaca for a three-week intensive textile residency with Arquetopia, focusing on the region’s natural dye traditions. My research will concentrate on local cochineal, indigo, and pericón, exploring the range of colors and variations that can be produced from each dye through different fibers, mordants, and techniques. This research will contribute to my growing archive of natural colors and textile knowledge across the Caribbean and Latin America.
